GM L4D server - Instructions

Right, due to the instability and unreliability of third party servers and numerous other matters; [GM] is now hosting an 8 (MAX) slot L4D server that will allow Disco to play with all his friends! (With no-one being left out).

Anyway, to connect specifically to the GM server, some magical witchcraft is needed:

Connecting via lobby:

To connect to the Gamingmasters' server, the lobby leader MUST do the following;

Right click on L4D in the steam games list and select properties;


Click on "Set launch options" in the properties dialog;


add

Code:

+sv_search_key GMvanilla

to the textbox in the dialog and then press OK



Now, whenever you press "Start game" It'll always look for the GM server.

Question thou, did we drop any maps and such for us to have this new L4D server up? Excuse my poor phrasing but i hope you guys know what i mean.

cant u add it 2 a steam group? when im on l4d it the bottom right corner is all the servers related to the groups im in.

To be honest, 18 is to much. Make it a 12 or 14 because it becomes a big death match after that = no fun.

or you could just type "openserverbrowser" and add it to favourites?

No, replaced with a l4d2 server.

 

Doesn't the search key also work in-game when you open console and type "sv_search_key GMvanilla"?

And Gaw, i am not trying to get my pitifull post count up

 

Well you can play in chronological order aka L4D 1 first, then catch up with the comic and move on to L4D 2. Or you can play L4D 2 and then visit the historical world of L4D 1 to shed some light onto when the infection started and so on and so forth.

If you want, I am up for a game of L4D 1 when I get back home (Since Ame does not yet have it on her own account, gonna get it to her soon though).

 

I prefer starting with L4D1, because if you play L4D2 first it can feel weird when there is no melee weapons in L4D1. And also, if you need players, I'm ready!

 

Chronological order ish always the best way :3
