For the past few days I've been trying to work out how to get PH to run on a server which I run on my PC. I know that running server on same computer as client is terrible form and would get me shot if I was trying to run a serious server, but I just want to be able to search for new spots, routes etc. I would also like one or two other people to be able to join in. So, how do I go about this? I tried setting up a dedicated server using the tool from steam and that failed horribly, so I used the hldsupdatetool to download all the files for a dedicated server as apparently that's the proper way to do it. While I was attempting to use the steam tool, I also downloaded SourceMod and MetaMod as they seemed to be important for some reason. Basically, I have no fucking clue what I'm doing and I would like some help. Thanks
Right, here's a rough guide - if you need any expansion or claification on some of the points, feel free to ask. Download the TF2 Game Files using HLDSUpdate (I think you've done this, verify using this guide: http://www.srcds.com/db/engine.php?subaction=showfull&id=1097362093) The game name is "tf" Install Metamod: Source in the server's addons folder (creating a folder structure that looks like tf/addons/metamod/bin) Create a metamod.inf using this tool: http://www.sourcemm.net/vdf and place it in the addons folder (tf/addons/metamod.inf) Donwload and install the latest Sourcemod for Windows (stable 1.4x branch) in the sever's addons folder (creating an additional folder structure that looks like tf/addons/sourcemod/bin) Copy the PropHunt maps into the server's map folder (tf/maps) Install SDK hooks from http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=106748 Download https://www.gamingmasters.org/prophunt/PHDataPack.zip and extract to create a folder structure like tf/addons/sourcemod/data/prophunt Download the smx from the bottom of this post and drop it in tf/addons/sourcemod/plugins Start up the server using "srcds.exe -console -game tf +map ph_town_a3 -maxplayers 16" Prophunt should kick in automatically, Watch the console for errors. Make sure you've correctly forwarded your ports if you want other people to play with.
Thanks Geit, that's a great help. I'll get back to you if I manage to fuck that up. One question: do the maps have to be put into the .bz2 file thingy? And do they have to be added to a list of maps to be downloaded or something, or will they just work if I stick them in that folder?
Okay, so it might just be me but I can't see any file attached to the bottom of your post, Geit. I may just be being a douglas though.
Nope, I am a douglas, I meant to link this post: http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=107104
