We need glowstone. I suggest the crafting recipe should be: O R O R G R O R O Where: O= nothing R= Redstone dust G= Golden nugget (sacrifice one gold for 9 nuggets). There should also be a way of getting redstone easily.
I know Cactus is aware of this now but for those who don't know, if you improve your Excavation level there's a small chance that destroying sand blocks will also cause glowstone dust to drop. There's also a tonne of other useful perks to be gained from levelling up certain skills with mcMMO, I might try to summarise the good ones in a post at some point.
I prefer using Golden apples and weakness potions to heal a zombie villager and getting a redstone trade... It should take hard work to get something like redstone
